More masterpieces from FCfC to decorate the Fair Haven Family Stroll & Festival this Saturday (May 5th, 10am-2pm, Quinnipiac River Park - E Grand Ave/Front st) the art is based off our featured book “Every Little Thing” and feature the four colors the FCfC community use to express how they are feeling. See you all on Saturday! #NHvStroll

The children of FCfC are once again hard at work creating mood art to decorate the Stroll this Saturday. This is the color of their “crying” mood, it helps them let others know they are low energy and sad. Join us for the Fair Haven Family Stroll & Festival this Saturday, 10am-2pm, Quinnipiac River Park (E Grand Ave/Front St, New Haven CT). The children will be displaying the colors of their many moods! We hope you will all be filled with happy thoughts as you stroll by them all! #NHvStroll

Children of Friends Center for Children have been channeling their anger emotion to create this awesome piece to decorate the Stroll route for the Fair Haven Family Stroll & Festival this Saturday at Quinnipiac River Park (E Grand Ave/Front St, New Haven Ct) fro 10am-2pm. Come check it out along with all the other cool art created to compliment this year’s Stroll theme “emotions”. See you there! #NHvStroll

The Need for Quality Early Childhood Education

The Fair Haven Family Stroll & Festival spotlights the urgent need to increase access to high-quality early childhood education. In the New Haven area, for every 100 families looking for an infant/toddler slot, only 2 slots are available. For preschool slots, the number is better (46 of 100), but of these, only 61% leave the programs ready for kindergarten, reducing the number of high-quality slots to 27. The cost of high quality care (ranging from $1,200 - $1,800 per month) further decreases access.

Studies by Nobel laureate and early childhood education expert James Heckman show that early childhood education has the HIGHEST rate of return on each dollar invested when compared with all other stages of education.
